What Causes Brown Spots?
Blotchy brown spots develop on the skin for several reasons. Sun exposure over time, certain medications (such as estrogen and other hormones), genetics alone–all contribute to the brown spots and sun spots. Generally, a brown spot is a focal area of either a higher number of pigment cells (called “melanocytes”) or an increased number of pigment molecules (called “melanin”) located within the melanocyte. Some excess melanin resides in your top layer of skin, or epidermis. Some excess melanin is deeper, in the dermis. Thus, brown spots are really a diverse group of skin issues; different types of increased pigmentation require different lightening treatments.
How many treatments:
When done properly, almost always consists of a series of 2-5 treatments, usually one every three to six weeks, however with our technology you would only need 1 – 3 sessions.
Does the laser hurt:
There may be mild discomfort during the treatment, but most patients tolerate removal of dilated blood vessels or age spots/freckles and fine lines very easily. The first treatment is usually the “zingiest.” As your skin begins to clear, the treatments usually become even more comfortable. The amount time is taking is based on the size of the area.
What is Rosacea?
It is a very common condition of diffuse redness in the facial skin, but the affected area sometimes also contains small broken capillaries and larger facial vessels. The laser treatment is a unique 1064nm laser that can clear Rosacea and vessels in 1 to 2 quick, gentle treatments without skin contact or cooling. The treatment has the versatility to treat the larger area of diffuse redness first in a quick, easy treatment, and with a simple change of the lens, to target the broken capillaries and larger vessels with higher fluencies.
