    Vaginal dystrophy or atrophic vaginitis, is drying, thinning, and inflammation of the vaginal walls. This condition results from a loss of estrogen and is quite common among menopausal women. For many, vaginal dystrophy can lead to painful intercourse and urinary symptoms. Given the interconnected nature of the urinary and vaginal symptoms of this condition, medical experts often refer to this condition as genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM).

    A decrease in estrogen causes GSM. With less estrogen in the body, the vaginal tissues become drier, thinner, more fragile, and less elastic. Estrogen levels may decrease before, during, and after menopause. They can also drop after surgical removal of both ovaries, as a side effect of breast cancer hormonal treatments, after pelvic radiation therapy, or after chemo.

    CO2RE® Intima is an in-office, non-surgical laser treatment that treats
