Integrative Medicine
A Guide To Living Well And Why It's Worth Some Consideration...

Integrative medicine is guided by the integration of the science-based ancient approaches and wisdom of Eastern approaches to healing with the ever-growing technological advances of Western medicine.

why integrative medicine?

Our society is experiencing a sharp increase in the number of people who suffer from complex, chronic diseases, such as diabetes, heart disease, cancer, mental illness, and autoimmune disorders. The system of medicine practiced by most physicians is oriented toward acute care, the diagnosis and treatment of trauma or illness that is of short duration and in need of urgent care, such as appendicitis or a broken leg. Unfortunately, the acute-care approach to medicine lacks the proper methodology and tools for preventing and treating complex, chronic disease.

There’s a huge gap between research and the way doctors practice. The gap between emerging research in basic sciences and integration into medical practice is enormous particularly in the area of complex, chronic illness. Most physicians are not adequately trained to assess the underlying causes of complex, chronic disease and to apply strategies such as nutrition, diet, and exercise to both treat and prevent these illnesses in their patients.

integrative medicine has come such a long way that we now have a branch of it at the Federal level. Refer to National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health

conditions treated

Our technology-based methodology condenses and systematizes an enormous amount of clinical information into an approach that works for our patients. It views metabolism as a total of all the factors that influence health throughout one’s life. These factors include stress, environment, spirituality, prescription drugs, exercise and diet. The protocol begins with a questionnaire which helps identify various traditional and non- traditional lab tests (blood, urine, saliva). This testing explores traditional measures, as well as many areas such as toxic levels, food allergies, drug-nutrient depletion and how all of these factors are interrelated.

Based on the testing results, we prepare a “road map” to significantly enhance patient health and vitality. This “road map” will include what foods to eat, nutritional supplements and exercise. The plan will teach patients how to establish long-term health goals. This unique approach to health care can be applied to virtually any health condition and, if followed, produces significant results in people who have not had success with conventional medicine alone. These conditions include:

detoxification
migraine headaches
autoimmune diseases
chronic infections
fibromyalgia
gastrointestinal health
fatigue
mental health
hormone disorder

Frequently Asked Questions

Integrative medicine, as defined by the American Board of Integrative Medicine® (ABOIM) and the Consortium of Academic Health Centers for Integrative Medicine, is the practice of medicine that reaffirms the importance of the relationship between practitioner and patient, focuses on the whole person, is informed by evidence, and makes use of all appropriate therapeutic approaches, healthcare professionals, and disciplines to achieve optimal health and healing.
One of the hallmarks of integrative medicine is it’s emphasis on patient individuality. While two people may have the same symptoms, their underlying causes may be quite different. In addition, other factors in their history may either slow or speed up the healing process. The vast majority of our patients feel improvement within the first month of care but realize that it will often take months for complete resolution of the problem. Our typical programs are a minimum of 8 weeks long.
Occasionally a person will have recently been tested by another practitioner. We may be able to use those test results as a basis for your health restoration program. Most traditional medical tests are not designed to show subtle underlying functional problems. The lab tests that we routinely order are specifically designed to help us tailor a program to your individual needs and eliminate all “guess work” in your case.
Every situation is different. During the initial complimentary consultation, we will obtain the required personal information to determine if you are a good candidate. We can then provide you with the exact plan and cost for the treatment.
All supplements that are recommended for your care are available through our office to pick up within 5-7 days from the time it is ordered.
Unfortunately, not all supplement companies are the same. Quality Issues of ingredients, formulation, and manufacturing process all come together to determine effectiveness and potency. We have thoroughly researched the companies and products to determine the top professional-line companies in the country. If you want to research your own supplements, just know that we will not be able to provide any specific dosing instructions or recommendation.
You should bring all your vitamins and medicines in their original containers if possible. Old medical records are also very helpful. If possible, the records should be sent a week prior to the appointment.
Yes, we treat children from 4 years old and up.
For many of us, the choice has already been made. Integrative Medicine offer us the chance to determine our healthcare and treatment methods through ongoing communication with our preferred doctor and without the interference and restrictions of a third party. IM has opened up a new and brighter path amidst the frustrations and restraints found under the typical healthcare model. You may have found that your healthcare and treatment options have been limited by insurance policies, handled by faceless officials who haven’t even talked to you. If this bothers you, then IM might just be the answer you’ve been looking for.
Within this model you will find that preventative medicine is embraced. You and your provider will work together to develop healthful nutrition plans and exercise programs. You will have unhurried consultations to discuss your health concerns, options, and treatment preferences.
